What is Personal Contract Hire

Personal Contract Hire (PCH), or Personal Car Leasing is simply contract hire but for private individuals.

It is based upon a fixed term agreement where the customer pays an agreed monthly rental for the use of a lease vehicle for a set period and mileage.  This helps customers who would prefer to remove the financial risks associated with the traditional purchase/disposal of a vehicle.

Personal Contract Hire is very similar to Business Contract Hire.  Both are based upon a fixed term and annual mileage which is agreed before the start of the contract.  You will need to calculate how many miles you expect to drive each year before a quotation can be obtained.  Lease contracts are normally available over two, three or four year periods, providing a high level of flexibility.

If you would like to benefit from even further fixed motoring costs, then you should consider adding the full maintenance, tyres and recovery option to your contract.  Full Maintenance covers all scheduled servicing, routine maintenance, MOTs, tyres, brakes, exhausts and batteries etc.

It is important that the vehicle is returned in accordance with the guidelines set out in the "Fair Wear and Tear Guide", a copy of which is made available to customers at the beginning of their agreement.  If you exceed the agreed mileage at the end of your contract you will have to pay an excess mileage charge at a pence per mile rate, which will have been agreed upon prior to signing your lease agreement.
